Kópavogur is Iceland's second-largest municipality by population, located immediately south of Reykjavík and part of the Capital Region. Its name translates to "seal pup bay," and its seal features the Kópavogskirkja church with a seal pup underneath. Kópavogur is primarily residential but also has commercial and industrial areas, and it is home to the Smáratorg Tower, the tallest building in Iceland.
