The European Union (ESB in Icelandic) is a political and economic union of 27 member states located primarily in Europe. While Iceland is not a member of the EU, it maintains a very close relationship through the European Economic Area (EEA) Agreement, which integrates Iceland into the EU's single market, allowing for the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor. Iceland also participates in the Schengen Agreement, enabling passport-free travel within the area, and aligns with the EU on many foreign policy and climate change issues.
