Mojtaba Khamenei is the current Supreme Leader of Iran, having been appointed in March 2026 by the Assembly of Experts following the death of his father, Ali Khamenei. He is a Shia cleric and the second-eldest son of the former Supreme Leader. While he has largely operated behind the scenes, he is considered a hardline conservative cleric with ties to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
