Norður-Kórea, officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), is a country in East Asia that occupies the northern part of the Korean Peninsula. It is a centralized and isolated nation known for its focus on nuclear weapons development and its unique "Juche" ideology of self-reliance. While diplomatic relations between Iceland and North Korea were established in 1973, or possibly 1982, the relationship has been characterized by Iceland's concerns over North Korea's missile crisis and human rights issues.
