Raufarhöfn

Staður

Raufarhöfn is a small fishing village located on the northeastern tip of the Melrakkaslétta peninsula in Iceland, near the Arctic Circle. It was once a significant export harbor during the mid-20th century herring boom, but is now a quiet community known for its natural harbor and the Arctic Henge, a modern monument inspired by Norse mythology. The village has recently been in the news due to an ongoing investigation into an organized drug ring operating in Raufarhöfn and other locations in Iceland, with at least fifteen individuals implicated in nineteen cases.
