Suðausturland, or Southeast Iceland, is a region in Iceland known for its dramatic landscapes, including Europe's largest glacier, Vatnajökull, spectacular waterfalls, and black sand beaches. It is a significant area for tourism, showcasing the country's geological contrasts where geothermal heat meets glacial cold. The region is part of the larger Southern Region of Iceland, which had a population of 34,076 as of January 1, 2024.
