Hveragerðisbær is a municipality in Southern Iceland, known for its significant geothermal activity, which has earned it nicknames like 'the Earthquake Town' or 'the Hot Spring Town'. This geothermal energy is utilized for heating greenhouses, making Hveragerði a center for horticulture in Iceland and even allowing it to be the world's northernmost producer of bananas. The town is located about 45 km east of Reykjavík and has a population of approximately 2,300 people.
