Breiðafjörður is a large, shallow bay on the west coast of Iceland, approximately 50 km wide and 125 km long. It separates the Westfjords region from the Snæfellsnes peninsula and is known for its stunning natural beauty, dotted with around 3,000 islands, islets, and skerries. The bay is a significant nature reserve, recognized for its rich biodiversity, including numerous bird species, seals, and whales, and is sometimes referred to as the "breadbasket of Iceland" due to its importance for fish and invertebrates.
