Ólafsfjörður is a town in northeast Iceland, situated at the mouth of the Eyjafjörður fjord. It is part of the municipality of Fjallabyggð, formed by the merger of Ólafsfjörður and Siglufjörður in 2006. Historically, the town's economy was driven by the herring industry in the mid-20th century, and fishing remains its primary industry today, alongside tourism. The Icelandic Meteorological Office (Veðurstofan) monitors weather conditions in Ólafsfjörður, and recently reported accumulated precipitation in the area to be around or over 100 millimeters.
