Liverpool is a city in Merseyside, North West England, and is notably significant in Iceland due to the immense popularity of Liverpool Football Club (Liverpool FC) among Icelanders. The club has a long-standing connection with Iceland, dating back to its first European game played in Reykjavík in 1964, and boasts a large and passionate fanbase in the country, including the Prime Minister. Many Icelanders also emigrated to North America via Liverpool in the 19th century.
