Mosfellsheiði is a heath and plateau located in southwestern Iceland, northeast of the capital Reykjavík, between Mosfellsbær and Þingvellir. It is part of the Icelandic Highlands and is known for its windswept lava fields, mossy landscapes, and views towards the steam from Nesjavellir. The road over Mosfellsheiði (Route 36, Þingvallavegur) is a significant route connecting Mosfellsbær to Þingvallavatn and is often subject to challenging driving conditions, including snow and ice.
