Faxaflói is a large bay located in southwest Iceland, situated between the Reykjanes and Snæfellsnes peninsulas. It is the largest bay in Iceland, covering an area of approximately 4500–5000 km², and is home to the capital city, Reykjavík, on its southern shore. The bay is a significant area for fishing and is also a popular spot for whale and puffin watching due to its rich marine life. The Icelandic Meteorological Office frequently issues weather warnings for Faxaflói, indicating its susceptibility to strong winds and snowstorms.
