Austurstræti is a prominent street located in the city center of Reykjavík, Iceland, known for its vibrant atmosphere and historical significance. The street was formally named Austurstræti, meaning "East Street," in 1848, though it was previously known as Langafortov or Langastétt, referring to its paved appearance. In 2007, a fire on Austurstræti destroyed two historic houses, but no injuries were reported.
