Alabama is a state located in the southeastern region of the United States, bordering Tennessee to the north, Georgia to the east, Florida and the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and Mississippi to the west. It is the 30th largest state by area and the 24th most populous of the 50 U.S. states. In Icelandic media, Alabama has been mentioned in the context of a friendly soccer match between Argentina and Iceland, scheduled to take place in Auburn, Alabama, on June 9. This will be Iceland's first visit to the United States since 2016.
