The Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands, also known as the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, is Iceland's national orchestra and a cornerstone of the country's cultural landscape. Founded in 1950, it performs approximately 100 concerts annually, including subscription series, school and family concerts, and new music events, primarily at the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík. The orchestra has received international acclaim for its performances and recordings, including Grammy Award nominations, and frequently tours abroad.
