Sigur Rós is an Icelandic post-rock band formed in Reykjavík in 1994, known for their ethereal sound, frontman Jónsi Birgisson's falsetto vocals, and the use of bowed guitar. They are considered one of Iceland's most important musical ambassadors, redefining genres like ambient and dream pop. The band has gained international recognition with platinum-selling albums and world tours, and their music has been featured in film and television. Recently, Sigur Rós joined over 1,000 artists in signing an open letter calling for a boycott of the Eurovision Song Contest in protest of Israel's participation.
