Magdeburg is a city in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, known for its historical significance and as the capital of the state. In Icelandic media, Magdeburg is primarily recognized as the home of the professional handball club SC Magdeburg, which features several Icelandic players and coaches. The city will also host a group for the upcoming World Handball Championship where the Icelandic national team is scheduled to play.
