Seltjarnarnes

Staður

Seltjarnarnes is a coastal town and municipality located on a narrow peninsula west of Reykjavík, Iceland. It is the smallest municipality in Iceland by land area, covering just 2 square kilometers, but is also the most densely populated. Historically, it was one of Iceland's earliest settled areas and originally encompassed a significant portion of what is now Reykjavík, becoming a separate municipality in 1947 and gaining town status in 1974. Seltjarnarnes is known for its rich birdlife, coastal walking paths, and the Grótta lighthouse, which is a popular spot for nature observation and Northern Lights viewing.
