The Hútar, also known as the Houthis, are a Zaydi revivalist and Shia Islamist political and military organization that originated in Yemen in the 1990s. They have been a significant force in Yemen's civil war and are supported by Iran, considered part of the Iranian-led "Axis of Resistance." The Hútar have recently launched missile and drone attacks towards Israel, stating these actions are in response to Israeli attacks on Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, and Palestine, and in solidarity with Palestinians. There is no indication that the Hútar organization has a direct role or significance in Iceland. The Icelandic media reports on their activities in the Middle East as international news.
