The EFTA Surveillance Authority (Eftirlitsstofnun EFTA), also known as ESA, is an organization based in Brussels, Belgium, responsible for monitoring compliance with European Economic Area (EEA) rules in Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway. Its role is to ensure that these EFTA States uphold their obligations under the EEA Agreement, allowing them to participate in the European Internal Market. ESA investigates potential infringements, such as Iceland's failure to implement EEA rules on port infrastructure or shareholder rights, and can refer cases to the EFTA Court.
