Hammarby IF, commonly known as Hammarby, is a Swedish professional sports club based in Stockholm, with a prominent football section known as Hammarby Fotboll. Founded in 1889 as a rowing association, it diversified into various sports, establishing its football department in 1915. Hammarby Fotboll competes in Sweden's top-tier league, Allsvenskan, and has won the league title once in 2001 and the Swedish Cup in 2021. The club has had several Icelandic players on its roster throughout its history, including Birkir Már Saevarsson, Jón Guðni Fjóluson, Vidar Örn Kjartansson, Arnór Smárason, Ögmundur Kristinsson, Heidar Geir Júlíusson, Gunnar Thór Gunnarsson, Pétur Björn Jónsson, and Pétur Haflidi Marteinsson.
