Islamabad is the capital city of Pakistan, located on the Pothohar Plateau. It is a planned city established in 1967, replacing Karachi as the national capital, and is the country's tenth-most populous city with over 1.1 million inhabitants. Islamabad has been mentioned in Icelandic media in the context of international diplomatic efforts, such as hosting talks between foreign ministers from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt to address ongoing conflicts, and as a location for discussions related to the Panama Papers. It also serves as a point of reference for Pakistan's diplomatic relations with Iceland, including the presentation of credentials by Pakistan's Ambassador to Iceland.
