Hillerød is a Danish town located in North Zealand, approximately 30 km northwest of Copenhagen. It is the administrative center of Hillerød Municipality and the administrative seat of the Capital Region of Denmark. Hillerød is known for Frederiksborg Castle, a large Renaissance castle that houses the Museum of National History. The town was recently mentioned in Icelandic media due to a train accident that occurred nearby, where two passenger trains collided, injuring 17 people, five of whom were in critical condition.
