Guðmundur Ingi Þóroddsson

Guðmundur Ingi Þóroddsson is an Icelandic advocate for prisoners' rights and a political figure. He is the chairman of Afstaða, an association for the rights of prisoners, and has been a prominent voice for prison reform in Iceland, advocating for rehabilitation over punishment. He is also leading the People's Party (Flokkur fólksins) list for the upcoming municipal elections in Reykjavík in May 2026. He has previously been incarcerated for drug smuggling and has used his personal experience to highlight issues within the Icelandic prison system.
